Awesome Dude Jumps On Board The Sushi Train (review)

April 23rd 2008 10:34

You know people, the sushi train doesn’t stop. You have to jump on board! So for lunch today I stopped in at Tomodachi for a quick ride on the sushi train.

So there I was on the 3rd floor of Melbourne Central listening to something really cool on my mp3 player because I’m so hip and cool. As I walked in I did what I can only describe as a “jig” and said –

yo, sushi train one!!

The waitress said
-excuse me?

Then I said-
sushi train for one please.

Then she said –
ha ha ha Nigel no-friend.

So I sat down and thought, that was a bit nasty and started to watch the train make its way round. I ordered a Japanese beer; I’m not sure which one the waitress picked it for me. It was quite nice.

Now I’ve got no idea what all the different types of sushi are called but I just had a bit of everything, I didn’t have any with tofu in it though, fuck that.

So if you don't know about the sushi train, I'll break it down. Colour coded plates come round on a conveyor belt kinda thing and you grab whatever you want, when you're finished they count your plates and then you pay. This is the colour code breakdown.

Alright so there is one in Melbourne and for all you losers that live in Sydney there is one in Westfield Parramatta. There’s not much really to say, if you like sushi then you will like Tomodachi.

Alright for Awesome Dudes score out of ten, I'll give it a 8/10, superb service and superb food.

Tomodachi Restaurant

and Westfield Parramatta, not sure how to get there, and well... I don't care.

Fun fact No93- I took a bite out of a live fish once.

I don't mind a good California roll occasionally but my problem with sushi is I would need to spend about $100 a sitting before my stomach stops growling. Its just not filling and tastes like a snack food rather than a real meal. And I'm a really small guy too, I can't imagine how much someone with a bit of weight on them would need to eat to satisfy hunger.

To pricey for what it is IMO, an entree.

Just curious how much does 5 or 6 entrees end up costing at Sushi Train?

Well with a Japanese beer it cost 37 bucks, I'm not sure if that's a good price or not, but I was pretty chockers at the end... but you know I probably coulda eaten a little more.
