Awesome Dude robs the Teller (review)
September 8th 2008 23:54
Alright molls, another review. This time we’re going back to the valley, back to where it all began, the mighty Goulburn Valley home of the orchard, birth place of Awesome Dude.
Mooroopna is snuggled in closely with Shepparton, a short drive across the cause-way and you’re there. There has always been some ill-will between Shep and The Roop, sometimes settled on the footy field, sometimes settled on the street...
Anyway there have been a few reviews on the restaurant called Teller, the main theme being that it’s the only good thing in Mooroopna... all I can say to that is they haven’t got stoned in Ferrari Park and then had a hotdog at the BP.
So a little bit about Teller, it’s on the main street of Mooroopna in an old bank, hence the name “Teller”. Now the chef is Matt Milsome and along the same lines as the chef from the Station Hotel Footscray he earned his stripes in the big city then decided to go out on his own.
The menu changes with the seasons and with what’s fresh locally. All entrees are the same price as are the mains and the desserts.
Entree- $16.50
Main- $29.50
Dessert- $15.50
They even have a couple of lame vegetarian choices. Another cool thing they do is a free sampler in between courses, normally a shot glass of soup with homemade bread for dipping.
They are open wed, thurs, fri, sat and Sunday. They do breakfast only on Saturday and Sunday, on the weekdays they are open they do a cafe style lunch and on Sunday night they have a 6 course meal where you don’t get a choice you just eat what you are given.
Now the style is gastronomic Australian-European with most dishes very well balanced, I had the beef, because I’m a man.
Awesome Dudes score out of ten -8 ½ (this place is on par with the station)
Teller Restaurant
108 McLennon St Mooroopna
Ph No-(03) 5825 3344
Fun fact No68- Ferrari Park has Gates, but no fence. (and the gates are locked)
